the parable of the good Samaritan, Jesus, as we’ve seen, asks this question: “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” (v. 36). While the man wants to ask, “Who is my neighbor?” so as to make excuses for himself, Jesus exposes the man’s moral bankruptcy by asking a different question: “To whom are you the neighbor?” So the parable of the good Samaritan is fairly straightforward.
